Widgeon grass grows in a tremendous range of salinities, including fresh, brackish and saline waters. It has been observed in Baffin Bay, Texas at salinities exceeding 100. Ruppia is generally found in the soft sediments of wind-protected lagoons and bays. This species closely resembles shoal grass but can be distinguished at maturity by its morphology. Widgeon grass has multiple slender, threadlike blades that protrude in an alternating fashion along the stem. These blades appear bushy and fan-like. Root and rhizome structures do not form thick, extensive mats making them easy to uproot.

This fantastic Caulerpa is a super hardy macro algae. This Caulerpa grows fast and adapts to many different light intensities. Caulerpa prolifera is least apt to go sexual when kept thinned out. This Caulerpa is beautiful enough and safe enough to house in your main tank. The shoots resemble small turtle Grass leaves that grow up off of a runner. As far as nutrient exporters go, you can't beat the Caulerpas. This Caulerpa is one of the safest and easiest to grow of all the macro algaes.

Amphipods, Copepods and assorted micro fauna are excellent additions to your main tank or refugium. Most of these tiny critters are detrivors or micro algae eaters. They are also a tremendous food source for fish and inverts of all kinds. Our portion O' pods contains approximately one hundred pods.

This marine plant is an interesting addition to any aquarium or refugium. It grows best with good quality, strong lighting for at least 8-10/ hrs a day. Turtle grass requires a good six inch+, mature sand bed for optimal root structure.
